04/28/15: SCOTUS Hears Marriage Equality Case; Last Days In Vietman; Jax Community Of Entrepreneurs

The Supreme Court assumes the bench today to hear historic oral arguments on same-sex marriage.

As this dramatic hearing plays out in Washington, the LGBT equality movement has come to Jacksonville in a big way, as activists push for a comprehensive human rights ordinance.

At the same time, that T in the LGBT acronym, transgender, is getting renewed awareness and understanding after Bruce Jenner’s landmark interview on his transition with ABC’s Diane Sawyer.
This morning, we’re discussing it all as we welcome Dan Merkan, chair of the Jax Coalition for Equality.

Then later, a local Vietnamese-American man remembers the fall of Vietnam.

Plus, the next phase for creators after One Spark.

The Jax Community of Entrepreneurs (JaxCoE) started six months ago as a 501(c)(3) to connect and support the innovators in our region. The goal is to build a vibrant 'startup ecosystem' of innovators and resources modeled on best practices from succesful ecosystems in other cities.

Today, JaxCoE will meet as a group at the main library to discuss how to move forward as a community.

JaxCoE founder Kate Stewart joins us on the show to tell us more.
