06/15/15: Redeveloping The Jacksonville Landing; Civil Rights Movement In St. Augustine; Cole Pepper

The Downtown Investment Authority is asking for community input at a public meeting this week on what should be done to redevelop the Jacksonville Landing in downtown. We discuss what could be in store for the Landing, and issues facing downtown in general, with Tim Gibbons, Jacksonville Business Journal editor, and Doris Goldstein, Downtown Investment Authority board member.

A special event taking place in St. Augustine will commemorate the 51st anniversary of the largest mass arrest of rabbis in U.S. history. The clergymen were drawn to the nation’s oldest city after Martin Luther King, Jr. asked them to come and join the struggle for civil rights. Rabbi Merrill Shapiro, member of the St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society, and the Reverend Ron Rawls, of St Paul AME Church in St. Augustine, join us with a look at the role these Jewish leaders played in Civil Rights Movement.

Plus, our sports contributor Cole Pepper discusses the University of Florida baseball team playing in the College World Series, Jacksonville Armada FC news and more.
