10/05/15: Guns On College Campuses; Disability Employment Month; 'An Act Of Dog'; Cole Pepper

The fatal shooting of at least seven people at an Oregon community college is now yet another example of a school shooting that both supporters and opponents of proposed campus carry legislation in Florida will point to when making their case. The Florida Legislature is currently considering measures that would allow people with concealed weapon permits to bring their firearms on public college and university campuses. We speak with supporters and opponents of the legislation: Eric Friday, lead attorney for the gun rights group Florida Carry; John White, president of the UNF chapter of United Faculty of Florida; and university student and former marine Adam Whitmer.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the contributions of America's workers with disabilities. Carrie Haines with Opportunity Services joins us with a preview of several events this month to help First Coast residents living with disabilities find employment.

Artist Mark Barone has painted over 5,000 portraits of dogs that have been put down at shelters across the country to help raise awareness of shelter animals. We speak with Barone and his partner Marina Dervan about their project, "An Act of Dog: Museum of Compassion." Filmmaker Bonnie Silva also joins us to discuss an upcoming documentary about the project.

And sports contributor Cole Pepper drops by with a look at the Jacksonville Jaguars' loss against the Indianapolis Colts, college football news, and more.
