Tallahassee’s youngest – and some would say “most persuasive” – lobbyist, is receiving yet another recognition. Paloma Rambana is up for a Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

Rambana, now in 7th grade at Maclay School, has appeared before state and federal lawmakers, led rallies, made speeches and helped secure more than a million dollars in state funding for visually-impaired kids like herself. It’s a cause she told WFSU last year that she’ll keep pushing. At least for now.

“I want to continue doing it until we get enough support for it and we fill the gap of it. And then after that I want to see if there are other organizations that need help and if there are not, I’d like to go into politics or something else,” she said.

As one of two award winners as a top youth volunteer, Rambana will receive $1,000 and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC – one of her favorite haunts – for several days of national recognition.
