Do I Have Class? Northeast Florida School Openings Post Hurricane Matthew

Here's a listing of when schools from throughout the First Coast will reopen.

Nassau County Public Schools: Schools will reopen Tuesday, Oct. 11. 

Duval County Public Schools: Schools will remain closed Monday. Classes will resume Tuesday. Makeup days will be announced next week. 

Clay County Public Schools: Schools will remain closed Monday. The teacher planning day that was scheduled for Friday will now be on Monday, Oct. 10, instead. Classes will resume Tuesday.

St. Johns County Schools: Schools will remain closed Monday. The decision if schools will open Tuesday will be announced by noon on Monday. 

Flagler County Schools: Schools will remain closed Monday and Tuesday. The district is developing a timeline for when schools will reopen.

Episcopal School of Jacksonville: Episcopal is without power and will be closed Monday. The school is still determining when classes will resume. 

Jacksonville University: Classes should resume Tuesday. Students are being asked to stay in Oak and Botts halls until the entire campus is fully inspected and safe. They are permitted to go back to their North campus residences by taking approved routes. All dining is being done out of Oak Hall.

 

University of North Florida: College classes will resume Tuesday. However, UNF Preschool opens Monday, according to teacher Nancy Winckler-Zuniga. 

 

Edward Waters College: Classes will resume Monday.

 

Florida State College at Jacksonville: Classes resume Monday at campuses in both Duval and Nassau counties.

 

St. Johns River State College: Classes at all campuses resume Wednesday. Tuesday is a student holiday but all employees should report to work Tuesday.

 

Flagler College: Classes expected to resume Thursday; residence halls tentatively opening Tuesday afternoon. Please continue visiting emergency.flagler.edu for more information.

Due to Hurricane Matthew and the clean-up efforts in its aftermath, Flagler College will be rescheduling events that were canceled late last week and has canceled remaining events for this week:

Friday, Oct. 7

7 p.m., Insel performance at Crisp-Ellert Art Museum. Rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 11

10 a.m., Community Lecture Series with Dr. Joe Saviak

6-8 p.m. City Commission and Mayoral Forum with City of St. Augustine Candidates

Wednesday, Oct. 12

7 p.m., Ideas & Images series with Dr. David Guggenheim

Thursday, Oct. 13

Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, Site Specific Sound Installation with Michael Dickins. Rescheduled for week of Oct. 31.

Saturday, Oct. 15

7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Campus Visit Day
