Historically black Edward Waters College on Jacksonville’s Northside has an additional $2 million to spend.Attorney Steve Pajcic and his wife Anne presented the unencumbered gift to the college today.

Steve Pajcic says he trusts EWC president Nat Glover to put the money to the best use for the school and its students.

“He needs to put some more money into faculty salaries to make sure he’s got the best faculty," he said.

"He needs to do a little bit more for scholarships and maybe to recruit some students who, if they knew about Edward Waters and the opportunity it presents to them, would come here.”

One idea for the money calls for using some of it to strengthen the partnership between the college and Duval County Public Schools, specifically dual enrollment and the "Call Me Mister" program, which helps young African American men become teachers.
