Rehwinkel-Vasilinda had long been thinking about a run for local office since being term-limited out of the State House two years ago. Back then, she was a Democrat but had thrown her support behind then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and became a registered Republican in early 2017. But City Commission posts, including the mayor’s job, are non-partisan.  So far, the other mayoral hopefuls are John Dailey, Dustin Daniels, Joe West, Erik David, Carrie Litherland and Norris Barr.
