Gov. Scott Going To Hurricane-Ravaged Puerto Rico

The Office of Governor Rick Scott

Gov. Rick Scott will travel Thursday to San Juan, Puerto Rico to help coordinate relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Maria, according to his office.

Additional details of the trip will be announced Thursday, Scott's office said in a news release.

Scott, who on Wednesday talked by phone with Florida port directors about getting resources quickly to Puerto Rico, is expected to be joined by Florida National Guard Adjutant General Michael Calhoun, Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Rick Swearingen and Florida emergency management officials.

On Tuesday, Florida National Guard members and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers were put on standby if needed to assist with the relief efforts.
