Jacksonville is struggling with a two-month citywide crime wave that’s been averaging one shooting a day and a murder every other day.Those are troubling statistics for a town that has repeatedly held the title of Florida’s murder capital; violent crime tends to spike in the hot summer months.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is responding by sending more officers to patrol the high-crime zone of Northwest Jacksonville as part of an initiative called Operation Ceasefire.
