A Jacksonville pastor is calling for a three day fast as a way to try and end gun violence.

The Reverend Ken Jones hosts the show “Truth is Holy” on 91.7 FM.

He’s asking listeners and anyone else who would like to participate, to not eat anything for 72-hours starting Tuesday.

Jones says denying the body of food makes people mindful of what their spirit needs.

“What’s happening is spiritual. It’s a heart issue. It’s the lack of love. It’s the lack of empathy. It’s the lack of compassion. And this is what is missing. And this is what is needed,” said Jones.

Jones is asking Christians and non-Christians to fast until 7 a.m. Thursday.

Jones said a fast of just a few hours or even overnight can help accomplish a spiritual reboot.
