Jacksonville’s Main Street Bridge will be closing nightly this week and be completely closed the next two weekends as crews reinstall an overhead temporary work platform that was removed as a precaution in preparation for Hurricane Irma.

The closures start Monday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m., with the bridge reopening at 6 a.m. each weekday morning.

During closures, both vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the Acosta Bridge. Boaters will not be impacted.

Once the platform is reinstalled, crews will continue to work on rehabilitation of the bridge.

The $10.7 million project is scheduled to be completed this fall with improvements to the mechanical, electrical and structural systems.
