Kid Zone Launches At Hemming Park - VIDEO

A new space for kids to play popped up in a downtown Jacksonville park today. It’s part of a push to attract more families to the area.

Today in Hemming Park, Friends of Hemming Park Director Vince Cavin led the rollout of the new Kid Zone — located in the northwest corner of park.

Cavin said, the Kid Zone is "a play space that encourages learning, social development, movement and lots of fun."

The first part to launch: The Imagination Playground is a set of about 100 big blue foam blocks in all shapes and sizes — with no instructions.

"The kids are just free to go wild and build anything they want," Cavin said.

The mobile playground is at Hemming Park Monday through Friday from 10 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. Kid Zone will also include art easels, hula hoops and other family-friendly activities.
