King Tides Trigger Concern For Potential St. Augustine Flooding

St. Augustine residents are being warned of another round of King Tides that could cause flooding in low lying areas.

The higher-than-usual tides begin rolling in Friday and are expected to continue through next Thursday, November 9.

St. Augustine officials urge people not to walk or drive through flood waters and to be especially careful around manhole covers since they can be dislodged by the high tides.

Any flooding and clogged storm drains should be reported to the city’s Public Works Department.

Meanwhile, crews will be monitoring the city’s storm-water management system and unclogging any storm drains that have gotten stopped-up with debris.

King Tides refer to the highest tides of the year.  They typically occur along Florida’s coast every Fall.
