Media Roundtable: President Obama Plans Executive Action On Immigration

Media Roundtable Week in Review Logo

President Obama, immigration reform, Bill Cosby and Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown are making headlines this week.

President Obama took an historic step Thursday night as he announced a plan to protect five million undocumented immigrants from deportation.

The President's plan will allow undocumented immigrants who are parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents, known as green card holders, to legally live and work in the country for a period of three years.

The move is satisfying immigrant activists who have lobbied for these changes for years. But this far-reaching executive order, which bypasses a gridlocked Congress, has infuriated Republicans.

Joining us on our regular Friday roundtable to discuss this and other stories from the week was our panel of local journalists:

Other topics include the shooting at Florida State University, Mayor Alvin Brown's administration returning money from a fundraiser headlined by Bill Cosby, and downtown revitilization.
