No Plans? No Problem! Things To Do This Weekend On The First Coast

A legend and a "mega event" are happening this weekend on the First Coast this weekend.

Friday, July 25 – After performing in front of a packed house in Jacksonville earlier this year, John Legend is at the St. Augustine Amplitheatre tonight. The winner of nine Grammy Awards, Legend has recorded with hip-hop and R&B royalty the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. More info online.

Saturday, July 26 –The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville will open the latest exhibition in their Project Atrium series on Saturday. Caroline Lathan-Stiefel's "Wider Than The Sky" is a site-specific sculptural work is made of an array of mostly textile materials — pipe cleaners, wire, thread, yarn, string, fabric, plastic, and fishing weights — suspended from skylight girders to forty feet below. A series of intricately woven curtains and several small segments include three-dimensional elements, translucent fabrics, and open areas that allow viewers to peer through multiple layers from each floor of the Museum. Saturday, July 26 – The Jacksonville Jaguars "Mega Event" on Saturday night will start with a soccer match between the English Premiere League's Fulham FC (owned by Jags owner Shad Khan) and Major League Soccer's DC United, followed by the unveiling of the stadium's new gigantic video boards and a concert by country music star Carrie Underwood. The game starts at 6 p.m. with the concert scheduled for  You can get tickets at Ticketmaster.
