Palm Beach County New SOE, Floridians Student Loan Debt, Book Club Author & Fort Lauderdale Art Week

Governor Ron DeSantis suspended Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor Susan Bucherand announced her replacement is real estate attorney Wendy Link. He cited Bucher's incompetence during the previous midterm elections as the reason for the suspension. This is the second elections supervisor to be pushed out by the governor because of the recount. Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times reporter Steve Bousquet has been following the story and joined Sundial to talk about the latest developments.

College debt in the Sunshine State is high and a new Experian reportshows it's climbing higher than anywhere else in the country. The report looked at data from 2015 to 2018 and saw Floridian’s college debt has grown exponentially. Mark Kantrowitz, a student loan expert and vice president of the "Saving For College"website, brokedown, the data. 

Miami Dade College English Professor Preston Allen is the author of the Sundial Book Club’s selection for January, “Jesus Boy.” The book follows a teen growing up and cultivating relationships through the prism of the church. Allen joined Sundial to talk about his book, his personal experience with his church as a teen and what he hopes readers will take from it. 

The Fort Lauderdale Art and Design Week began on Monday. It’s the city’s response to Miami-Dade's Art Week with a series of events filled with satellite art fairs, artist talks, studio tours and art galleries on boats. We talked to two local Broward Artists, Harmony Jones and Dana Kleinman, about their art and gave a little preview of the week long fair and how people can get involved in the activities.
