A celebrated American singer and actor whose voice and presence has captivated audiences and critics around the world is performing on the First Coast this weekend for a great cause. Michael Amante sings a repertoire that ranges from jazz, rock, gospel and Broadway to the soaring notes of opera.

His debut recording of classical songs and arias placed him as the number one artist in Billboard Magazine’s classical charts in 2002, and his self-titled PBS television special was nominated for a regional Emmy Award.

Amante is performing this Saturday on Amelia Island at the Ritz Carlton for an annual fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Nassau County Foundation.

Amante, and event chairwoman Ann Moser, joined Melissa Ross for a preview of the event.
