Portion Of Clay County's Black Creek Enters Action Flood Stage

Gov. Rick Scott's Office
Flooding along Black Creek in Clay County is pictured on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017.

Clay County Emergency Management officials are advising residents along the south prong of Black Creek to keep an eye on rising waters.

Black Creek, which has a history of flooding, has entered what is defined as the action flood stage at the south prong, which is near Penney Farms.

The south prong is expected to crest later Thursday somewhere in the minor-stage level, according to Clay County Emergency Management.

As of Thursday morning, no issues were expected, but that could change depending on the rainfall over the next few days.

If there were to be an unanticipated heavy rainfall in the basin it could cause the creek to rise very quickly.
