Problems With Mental-Health Services In NE Florida? Lawmakers To Take Note Thursday

Florida House of Representatives Website

Problems with mental-health services will be the subject of a public workshop in Jacksonville tomorrow. Several lawmakers representing Duval County will attend the forum at City Hall starting at 1 p.m. Duval County Legislative Delegation Coordinator Paula Shoup says Rep. Janet Adkins (R-Fernandina Beach) is hosting the event to see if there is new legislation needed.

“Prepare to sit through a long agenda. There’s gonna be a lot of people speaking from Florida Department of Corrections, Department of Children and Families, AHCA [the Agency for Health Care Administration]," Shoup says. "We have a lot of people coming to speak about all the different aspects of mental health here in Jacksonville.”

The event is open to the public. Anyone who wants to speak at the workshop must complete a request form and submit it to the delegation office.
