Forecasters say weather conditions on the First Coast will gradually improve over the weekend.

The chance of rain is expected to drop from 60% Saturday to around 20% Sunday.

Heavy rains and flooding have forced many outdoor events in Jacksonville this weekend to move indoors or to change the date all together.

  • Friday: Movies in the Park moved to the lobby of the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk.
  • Friday: Tee-Off Downtown moved to the East Club at EverBank Field.
  • Saturday: JU graduation moved to First Baptist Church downtown.
  • Saturday: 1st Coast Kids Triathlon rescheduled for June 1st & 2nd.
  • Saturday: Jax United FC vs Tampa Marauders FC rescheduled for July 5th.
  • Saturday: The Players 5K with Donna rescheduled for May 18th.
  • TPC Sawgrass closed to fans Monday. Tickets will be honored Tuesday.

St. Johns County, which got around a foot of rain over the past 24-hours, remains under a flood watch until late tonight and a high wind advisory until Saturday morning.
The Director of Emergency Management, Ray Ashton, says all that water plus 45-mile an hour winds could spell trouble of a different sort for St. Johns’s residents.

"As this water drains more into the ground, percolates, we're going to see some of these trees, probably the root systems, get weaker. And with the winds that are expected throughout the afternoon and probably the evening, we may see some trees come down.

St. Johns County beaches have been closed to vehicles because of the high surf.  There’s also a high risk of rip-tides.
