Jaguar fans posed with mascot Jaxson de Ville at City Hall, Friday.

Fans lucky enough to get off work early signed a giant banner that the Jags will get on their way to Steel City Saturday, as well as photo-ops with Jaguars mascot Jaxson de Ville and a performance by the ROAR.

Of course no pep rally would be complete without the classic “Duuuuvalll” chant.

Fan Christy Wilkes, who believes the Jaguars will make it to the Super Bowl, wore a jersey and teal ribbon in her hair and said events like this are important to her.

“Something like this to bring everybody together is pretty awesome,” she said. “I’ve been here for 15 years. This has been kind of a really big thing for me, I’ve been a fan for so long.”

Curry pumped up the crowd of fans by reminding them of Jacksonville’s 30-9 win over the Steelers early in the season and was greeted with loud cheering.

He also announced a friendly wager.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and City Council President Anna Lopez Brosche made a friendly wager with the mayor of Pittsburgh over the outcome of Sunday's game.

”When the Jaguars win, their mayor will pick a place that serves homeless people and serve them meals,” Curry said. “Should Pittsburgh win, which that won’t happen, the Council president and I will serve at City Rescue Mission.”

Specifically, they’ll serve Bubba Burgers — a staple at Jaguar home games. But Curry said even if the Jags win, they’ll serve the homeless.

And Curry had a message for Buffalo, New York’s mayor after last week’s defeat of the Bills:

“We’re still waiting on the Buffalo wings.”

The Jags take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh, Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
