Every spring, a national military family support group called Operation Homefront honors outstanding children whose parents are serving in the military. Six were selected this year, one for each branch of service.

The 2018 Air Force Military Child of the Year is from Tampa. Eve Glenn graduated recently as valedictorian of Robinson High School. It was the 11th school she'd attended.WUSF's Bobbie O'Brien speaks with Eve Glenn, the 2018 Air Force Military Child of the Year.

But through all those moves and the challenges of fitting in at new schools, Glenn managed to maintain her grades and rack up close to 2,000 volunteers hours. Glenn credits her volunteerism, sports and science research with helping her adjust in her new schools.

Glenn is headed to Brown University this fall and is looking forward to living in the same community for four straight years. She plans a career in chemistry, bio-chemistry or medicine.
