Friday on First Coast Connect, our weekly Media Roundtable with guests Folio Weekly editor Claire Goforth, Florida Times-Union reporter Tessa Duvall, Jacksonville Business Journal editor Timothy Gibbons and WJCT reporter Ryan Benk (01:10).       

We met South African ophthalmologist Dr. Bayanda Mbambisa who is in Jacksonville as part of the Rotary Club’s Mike Williams Visionary Scholars program. Bill Sorenson also joined us. He’s co-chair of the committee (35:54).       

Ahead of Saturday’s annual ArborEATUM fundraiser for the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens we were joined by Board of Directors President Lawrence Geirum and board member Melinda Simmons (46:00).   

Friday on “First Coast Connect” it was our weekly Media Roundtable with Florida Times-Union columnist Ron Littlepage, Florida Politics reporter A.G. Gancarski and contributing writer for the Jacksonville Free Press Charles Griggs. We also spoke with University of North Florida professor Parvez Ahmed about the upcoming presentation of the movie “The Sultan and the Saint.” Ahead of its concert Sunday in Jacksonville, we heard a live in-studio performance by Pharaoh’s Daughter. 


Friday on First Coast Connect, our weekly Media Roundtable included Larry Hannan from the Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville Business Journal editor Timothy Gibbons, WJCT business analyst John Burr and WJCT reporter Lindsey Kilbride. We also heard from First Coast Connect entertainment analyst Joey O’Hern and Henny Stewart from local TV show “The Chat” to talk about this week’s Oscar nominations, and members of the Jacksonville Harmony Chorus performed in studio. 

    

Friday on First Coast Connect, our Media Roundtable panel included Florida Times-Union columnist Mark Woods and WJCT business analyst John Burr. CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida Paul Martinez spoke about Saturday’s inaugural Collard Green Festival at the organization’s Woodland Acres Club Farm, and Museum of Science and History Executive Director Maria Hane told us about Saturday’s MOSH Bash, celebrating the museum’s 75th anniversary. 


Our Friday Media Roundtable  featured discussion about the Harvard study that sharply criticizes Duval County for the number of convicts it sends to death row, they also looked at the latest University of North Florida poll. The SHARE and SEED Academy is performing “The Wiz” on Saturday and we heard about the “Sing Out Loud Festival” kicking off Friday night in St. Augustine.
