  Tuesday on “First Coast Connect” we spoke with Vista Energy Group CEO and Flagler College Professor John O’Brien about how President Donald Trump’s trade policies could affect the First Coast. Our First Coast Connect Book Club blogger Stacy Goldring talked about this month’s selection, “What We Became.” We heard from Mary Rose, director of learning services at Florida State College of Jacksonville, and Imani Hope, director of strategic investments at the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, about an upcoming FSCJ TEDx salon focusing on Jacksonville’s women of color in politics. And on Valentine’s Day we heard about a local program designed to save troubled marriages.  


            

Monday on “First Coast Connect,” we spoke by phone with public pension expert Bob Klausner about how some other cities around the country are dealing with their pension problems. We also heard from Lourdes Norman-McKay, professor of biological sciences at FSCJ and Dr. Pauline Rolle from the Duval County Health Department about an upcoming TEDxFSCJ talk exploring the role vaccines play in public health. WJCT contributor Cole Pepper also brought us the latest news on the Jaguars’ search for a head coach.  


        

The bankruptcy of South Korean shipping giant Hanjin won’t affect the Jacksonville Port Authority but it is raising questions about the future of international shipping on the First Coast. JAXPORT senior director of communication Nancy Rubin and JAXUSA Partnership President Jerry Mallot joined host Melissa Ross on Monday to talk about Jacksonville’s role in international trade. We also spoke with local author Tim Gilmore about his latest book “Devil in the Baptist Church: Bob Gray’s Unholy Trinity.” composition titles always in quotes  A TEDx event will be held in October at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Florida State College at Jacksonville is looking for people with great ideas to speak at the school’s TEDx event this year.
