Jumbo Shrimp Are Holding Stadium Announcer Auditions

Visit Jacksonville
The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville

Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fans with broadcast aspirations: now is your time try out as the minor league baseball team’s public address voice.

Shrimp spokesman Scott Kornberg said the next voice to welcome people to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and announce player-lineups will need to start on opening day, April 4.

Kornberg said the baseball industry is seeing a variety of announcer styles these days, and the team is hoping all kinds of talented people will audition:

“You don’t have to have a deep voice. If you’ve got a really good rhythm, a good cadence, a passion for baseball, good enunciation, good style, there’s nothing in particular that we’re looking for; but definitely, we want people to be themselves when they’re on the mic here at the ballpark,” said Kornberg.

It’s a paid gig, for home games and the potential for playoffs.

Video submissions will be accepted through this Sunday, March 17. Finalists will then have in-person auditions at the park.

More on how to apply is in this story at WJCT dot org.

Kornberg said video auditions should be emailed to win@jaxshrimp.com.  Use the script provided by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on this webpage, where you’ll also find additional information about applying.
