Fifty-two rounds of hollow point bullets, three magazines and a Glock-17, all issued by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, were stolen from a corrections officer’s personal car in April 2019.
It’s not the only theft of lethal Sheriff's Office property that has been stolen from officers’ cars recently.
Five Glock handguns, at least four magazines and over 50 bullets have been stolen from the trunks, center consoles, side pockets and from under the seats of officers’ cars, the Times-Union found after reviewing two years of Internal Affairs reports that were completed between June 1, 2019 and June 1, 2021, containing instances of mishandling of weapons by law enforcement.
