Home prices are higher than ever in Jacksonville area
Sales prices for Jacksonville-area houses ticked up again last month, pushing the median price to a record $307,230, the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors reported Tuesday.
Up 19.7% from the median 12 months earlier, the increase in September continued to price more people out of deals, creating the least affordable housing market in 15 years, data from the organization showed.
“It is having some buyers reevaluate,” said Diana Galavis, a Realtor who is NEFAR’s treasurer. Jacksonville’s market is more affordable than much of Florida and many cities nationally, Galavis said, but some people interested in homes are simply sidelined, hoping they’ll be better situated to buy later.
