Operation New Hope founder is retiring, but he'll continue to help ex-offenders

Kevin Gay, founder and CEO of Operation New Hope, is retiring after 23 years of leading the nonprofit that provides support, life and job skills training for people with criminal histories.

Aaron Hill had never met Kevin Gay.

But when Hill recently visited Operation New Hope, the Jacksonville-based nonprofit that six years ago helped him get his life on track after a prison stint, he unexpectedly encountered the retiring founder and CEO. And he felt compelled to share his story.

"I've come so far," Hill said. "I just wanted to say thank you. … The program really helped me."
