Nirmal Mulaikal

Nirmal Mulaikal is a rising senior at Northwestern University studying journalism and political science.

He fell in love with storytelling and writing at an early age as an avid follower of sports, politics and comedy. Mulaikal has covered numerous issues as a reporter, including investigating sugar cane burning in Florida, the impact of the 2019 government shutdown on military education institutions, and a wrongful conviction in Oklahoma.

He has appeared in USA Today, Florida Today, The Chicago Sun-Times, The Military Times, Tulsa World, The Macon Telegraph and The Medill Justice Project. He is a huge fan of NPR and is excited to be interning with WLRN. He hopes to work as an investigative reporter in the future with a focus on audio.
