02/29/16: Peace In The Middle East; Medical Mission At Home; First Coast Success; Cole Pepper

A panel discussion titled “Peace in the Middle East: Inspiring Voices and Stories” took place Sunday at UNF.

The event, moderated by WJCT's Melissa Ross, explored the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and how faith communities how could help to resolve it.

First Coast Connect fill-in host Jessica Palombo continues that conversation with some of the nationally recognized faith leaders who took part in the event: Rabbi Donniel Hartman, president of the New York and Jerusalem based Shalom Hartman Institute; Imam AbduallahAntepli, chief representative of Muslim affairs and former chaplain at Duke University; and the Reverend Molly Marshall, president and professor of theology and spiritual formation at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas.

St. Vincent's HealthCare will hold its inaugural "Medical Mission at Home" this weekend. This day-long event will provide free basic healthcare services to the First Coast's uninsured and underinsured. Virginia Hall, System Director of Community Engagement at St. Vincent’s Healthcare, and Tracie Loftis, Chief Mission Integration Office, join us with details.

In this month's edition of our First Coast Success segment, Karen Mathis of The Daily Record speaks with entrepreneur and restaurateur John Valentino.

And our sports contributor Cole Pepper joins us with a look at March Madness, the Jacksonville Armada's loss against the New York Red Bulls, and more.
