Florida gubernatorial candidates, Republican Ron DeSantis, left, and Democrat Andrew Gillum fist bump after a debate, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at Broward College in Davie, Fla.

On Friday’s First Coast Connect, politics dominated our Weekly Roundtable discussion, especially the gubernatorial race with Vice President Mike Pence campaigning in Jacksonville for GOP nominee Ron DeSantis following Wednesday’s debate with Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum.

We also looked at the city’s ongoing fight with the Jacksonville Landing and how it had the potential to impact this weekend’s Florida-Georgia game festivities along with a new study on opioids.

Our panel guests for the discussion were:

  • Florida Times-Union Reporter David Bauerlein
  • WJCT Contributor Charles Griggs
  • WJCT Business Analyst John Burr
  • New Folo Weekly Editor Georgio Valentio

A Musical History Lession
