Monday on First Coast Connect we heard about this week’s Faith, Race and LGBT: A conversation with Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington at UNF that looks to bridge gaps and work for common goals. We spoke with UNF LBGT Resource Center Director Kaitlin Legg  and UNF Interfaith Center Associate Director Matt Hartley (01:14).       

Many in Jacksonville are working to reduce the ongoing gun violence in Jacksonville. One group is We Rise Jax which is presenting its 1st Annual We Rise Festivalat Eastside Brotherhood on Saturday. We heard about the event from Nicole Holderbaum and Nick Thompson from We Rise Jax (26:09).   

ThePhase Eight Theatre Company is getting ready for its next performance. The Yo Soy Latino Showcase will feature a singular Latino showcase with several performances highlighting the community. We heard about the show from performer Carlos Semidei and director Arianna Rodriguez. Both are employed by WJCT (36:49) and Phase Eight is a tenant at WJCT.

Cole Pepper joined us to talk about the Jaguars getting barbequed in Kansas City by the Chiefs along with the Gators big win Saturday over LSU and Miami coming from behind to beat Florida State (46:00).
