Publix is expanding its Florida COVID-19 vaccinations appointment system to Nassau County.Nassau County Emergency Management Director Greg Foster announced Tuesday that his request to the Florida Division of Emergency Management to dispense COVID-19 vaccines through local Publix pharmacies has been approved.

Publix locations in Fernandina Beach and Yulee are now scheduling and administering their weekly allotted supply of vaccine from the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.

A Wednesday check of the Publix vaccination website showed the first available Nassau County appointments were already fully booked.

As with other vaccine sites in Florida, appointments are currently limited to:

  • Healthcare personnel with direct patient contact.
  • Residents and staff of long-term healthcare facilities.
  • Adults aged 65 years and older.

Meanwhile, Nassau County’s health department says it is continuing to receive weekly allotments of COVID-19 vaccine and is administering doses to individuals with appointments at Point of Dispensing (POD) sites throughout the county.
Qualifying residents can register through the onenassau.com website. Residents who register on the OneNassau waitlist can expect to receive an Eventbrite email message telling them that they can claim their dose and schedule their appointment as more vaccine doses become available.

Individuals should register on the vaccine waitlist only once, the county health department said. Duplicate entries are deleted.

Their contact information remains in the waitlist until they are selected for their vaccination. Unclaimed doses are offered to others on the waitlist.

The county is reminding registered residents to answer phone calls from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 904-548-0900. Callers in the EOC will not leave messages.
