4th Coronavirus Death Confirmed In St. Johns County

A 56-year-old St. Johns County man who traveled to Louisiana has died of coronavirus, according to the latest state health department numbers.

The man is the fourth person to die in St. Johns County due to COVID-19 and is one of more than 680-Floridians who have died, as the number of cases continues to grow each day in Florida and 35,000 patients remain hospitalized.

At the time of this story's publication, 185 total confirmed cases have been reported in St. Johns County.  Of those, 53% have been male and 46% have been female. 

In Northeast Florida, as across the rest of the state, a large number of cases are concentrated in long-term care facilities, like nursing homes.

Clay County has more than 70-cases connected to these facilities, while Duval has seen more than 50.

The vast majority of the coronavirus deaths in Duval County have been in people over the age of 80.
