Duval County's Half Cent Sales Tax

The push for a November referendum on a proposed a half-cent sales tax for better school buildings in Jacksonville has suffered a setback. On Tuesday night, the finance committee of the City Council voted to recommend delaying a referendum on a half-cent sales tax for schools to the fall of 2020.

'Cracker Gothic'

Wanda Suttle Duncan is a seventh generation Floridian. When she left the state at the age of 18, she left her small hometown of Green Cove Springs for what she thought would be forever.

However, after returning for personal reasons, she discovered the power of a place one calls home to heal a heart. On Thursday’s First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross, Duncan joined us for a look at her new memoir, Cracker Gothic.

Void magazine is dropping a new album titled Void On Vinyl (Volume 2) – the magazine's latest all local music compilation this Saturday night at Nighthawks.

Matt Shaw, Void’s Editor in Chief and Josué Cruz, lead singer of the Jacksonville based Afro-Cuban Salsa band LPT joined us with more.
