The candidates running for Northeast Florida’s 6th Congressional District have agreed to two debates before the November 6th general election.

WESH-TV, which is licensed to Daytona Beach with studios in Winter Park near Orlando, will host the first debate between Democrat Nancy Soderberg and Republican Michael Waltz on Tuesday, October 2.

The date for the second debate is still up in the air.

It will be hosted by Stetson University and the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

The 6th District runs from Jacksonville’s Southside to New Smyrna Beach.

The seat was held by Republican Ron DeSantis who resigned from Congress this week to focus on his campaign for Florida governor.

His Democratic challenger is Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum.
