8/29/16: Pension Vote; The Listening Room; "Jake For Mayor"

KIPP Executive Director Tom Majdanics and Florida Times-Union’s David Bauerlein discussed Tuesday’s vote on Jacksonville  Mayor Lenny Curry’s pension funding referendum. Melissa Ross also spoke with promoter Ray Lewis about the Listening Room at Mudville Grill and author Lou Aguilar discussed his new book, “Jake for Mayor.”

Pension referendum

Majdanics said he opposes the referendum because the sales tax doesn’t start being collected until 2031. He said the money should be raised now and not later. Bauerlein has been reporting on the city’s pension problems for years and discussed what supporters hope to accomplish in getting the referendum passed.

The Listening Room

Ross also spoke with local concert promoter Ray Lewis about the Listening  Room at Mudville Grille. The Listening Room has brought a variety of musical styles to its stage, and will hold a benefit concert to raise money for Pet Rescue North.
