9/20/2018: Consolidation at 50; Bank Of America Awards; Childhood Obesity; Kerry Speckman

Thursday First Coast Connect featured guest host Charlene Shirk. She was joined by local historian Jim Crooks and attorney Earl Johnson Jr. to talk about the 50th anniversary of Consolidation in Jacksonville (01:38).

The Bank of America is getting ready to announce the latest recipients of its Neighborhood Builders Awards. With a preview we were joined by Northeast Florida Market President Greg Smith and local market manager Martha Barrett (28:46)

The Youth Crisis Center and Feeding Northeast Florida are teaming up to combat childhood obesity among the less fortunate children in Jacksonville. We heard about the plan with Nina Lopez, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Youth Crisis Center and Feeding Northeast Florida President and CEO Frank Castillo (37:29).       

Kerry Speckman told about some upcoming events including Saturday’s Museum Day hosted by Smithsonian Magazine that has museums across northeast Florida offering free entry to anyone who presents a Museum Day ticket. Also on tap is Saturday’s Toast to the Animals benefit for the Jacksonville Humane Society and the Jaguars home game Sunday against Division rival Tennessee (46:00).
