American Airlines will soon offer non-stop flights from Jacksonville to Austin, Texas.

Starting September 8, American will offer daily flights from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). The daily flight from Jacksonville to Austin will depart at  5:30 p.m.

The flight will take an estimated 2 hours and 45 minutes and have a 76-person capacity.

Connecting both cities makes sense from a business perspective, said Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh.

“Jacksonville shares many key industries with the Austin area, including advanced manufacturing, financial services and IT,” he said in an email to WJCT News.

The Austin flight will expand the number of airports American flies to from Jacksonville to seven.
