With warmer weather comes higher gas prices.

The price of regular unleaded has jumped 25 cents a gallon over the past 10 days, according to the American Automobile Association.

AAA’s Mark Jenkins said the spike is just a hint of what’s ahead for motorists. “Triple A is forecasting that gas prices will peak at around $2.75 a gallon by Memorial Day.”

Jenkins blames the hike on routine spring maintenance and refineries’ switch to the more expensive summer blend gasoline.

The average price of regular unleaded in Florida is currently around $2.50 a gallon.

Florida has the 12th highest gas prices in the U.S., according to AAA.  Hawaii has the highest prices.
