There has been a surge of female candidates who are running for both state and federal offices in the 2018 midterm elections. In Broward County, Saima Farooquiwill become the first  Muslim to enter Florida's Statehouse if elected to represent House District 96, which includes Parkland and portions of Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Margate and Pompano Beach.

Pompano Beach fire inspector and paddleboarder Victoria Burgess recently completed a challenge unlike any other in her life. She became the first woman to paddleboard the 105 miles from Havana to Key West and did so in about 27 hours.

Burgess' journey will be the subject of an upcoming documentary. She spoke with Sundial about her preparation for the crossing, how she ate and rested along the way and what she plans to do next.

A short clip of some video..first part is the beginning when it was nice and calm. Second part is at night when storms picked up. It is in night vision camera so hard to see too much and I look like a ghost with glowing eyes lol!
