Englewood High School will be hosting a community meeting Thursday.

The first two community meetings on the Duval School District’s plan for addressing aging school buildings are Monday night in Jacksonville.

A proposed master plan totaling nearly $2 billion includes building new schools as well consolidating more than a dozen existing schools along with renovating, upgrading or expanding others.

Superintendent Diana Greene said Monday people don’t have to attend the meetings in person to have a say in the process.

“Individuals who cannot attend the face-to-face meetings can go online, see the proposals. And this online survey will be posted for a number of days so that we are giving our community plenty of time to voice their opinion”

Monday night’s meetings are at 6 at Terry Parker High School in Arlington and Alimacani Elementary School on the Eastside.

Two more community meetings are scheduled for this Thursday at Englewood High School on the Southside and Ed White High School on the Westside.

Another three meetings are set for next week.

Additional information about the meetings and process is available on the Duval County Public Schools website.
