Friends and family of Jacksonville City Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman are asking for prayers as she battles COVID-19.

We learned through our news partner News4Jax on Monday that she is hospitalized in the ICU.  It is not clear how she contracted the virus.  This, as cases continue to rise in Northeast Florida and around the state.

For the latest on the cornavirus situation in Jacksonville we spoke with Michelle Aquino. She is a hospitalist at Baptist Health.

Downtown Jacksonville Riverfront

Conversations to develop Jacksonville's Downtown riverfront are continuing.  For some insight into the public process, we spoke to Jen Andrews, CEO, Shelby Farms Park Conservancy and Yvette Lopez-Ledesma, Senior Director of Community Led Conservation, the Wilderness Society.

The Importance Of Shade

National Geographic magazine’s July cover story, “A Shady Divide,” explores a low-tech, immediate solution to extreme heat: shade.

We learned more about the importance of shade and why certain areas are not getting enough of it from climate scientist and author Alejandra Borunda.

MOCA

Jacksonville-based photographer Doug Eng will soon be featured in a solo exhibition exploring the relationship between man and nature at MOCA Jacksonville.  The show is called “Structure of Nature | Nature of Structure." It will be on view starting Friday, July 9. MOCA Senior Curator Ylva Rouse joined us with a preview of the show.
