This is the location of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville's temporary holiday shop at The Markets At Town Center.

A temporary store showcasing the works of local artists has popped-up at The Markets At Town Center just in time for the holidays.

ARTSee & Shop is a collaboration between the company that manages the shopping center and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.

Cultural Council Executive Director Joy Young said temporary pop-ups like ARTSee & Shop are a trend in retail these days.

“The idea of pop-ups, they really are just that. They pop up, they show up, they provide a unique experience. And because it’s short-term, it really creates a buzz - hey, this is here. You’ve got to see it before it leaves. It’s that limited time offer kind of thing.”

ARTSee & Shop officially opens Saturday near the St. Johns Town Center in the store-space formerly occupied by Charlotte Russe and will be there through December 21st.

Young said it will feature works by more than 40-local artists; with everything from paintings, furniture and glass to jewelry and clothing.

The shop will also host book readings, do-it-yourself workshops and live music on the weekends.
