Two Florida Democratic legislators have filed a complaint against a pro-gun Lobbyist who hasn’t disclosed her compensation in more than a decade.
The National Rifle Association’s lobbyist, Marion Hammer, is the subject of a formal complaint filed by Senator Perry Thurston (D-Fort Lauderdale) and Rep. Anna Eskamani (D-Orlando).
The complaint is asking for an investigation looking into Hammer’s alleged failure to disclose more than 300 thousand dollars in fees from the NRA for lobbying services. The lawmakers claim Hammer hasn’t filed any compensation reports since 2007. Meanwhile, NRA tax returns show she received more than 900 thousand dollars since 2014.
Thurston says the law requiring lobbyist to disclose their total compensation was meant to counter the uncertainty behind who may be driving a bill.
Eskamani pointed out that in the 2019 session not one gun safety bill filed by a Democrat received a hearing.
