Details Of Thursday’s Celebration Of Life For Former Mayor Jake Godbold

The public celebration of the life of the late, former Jacksonville Mayor Jake Godbold will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center in downtown Jacksonville.

Known as much by his first name — Jake — as well as his deeds before and after serving as Jacksonville mayor, the life of Jake Godbold will be celebrated publicly Thursday.

Goldbold, who served his two terms during a time of unprecedented city growth, passed away Jan. 23 at age 86.

A public celebration of his life will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center at 1000 Water St. in downtown Jacksonville.

The event is free and open to anyone. Doors to the convention center will open at 8:15 a.m. so people can pay their final respects.
