It has been one week since the Valentine's Day massacre on February 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and teachers dead and many others wounded.
In honor of the lives lost a group of local alumni have decided to come together to help the victims and their families.
The Super Food and Brew restaurant is hosting a fundraiser for the victims of the Parkland school shooting Thursday, February 22, from 5 to 10 p.m. at 11 E. Forsyth Street.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Broward Education Foundation’s GoFundMe page. The web page states the donations will be used to, “Provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific shooting.”
“We’ve been working doubles around the clock to make sure we’re ready for this event, and we’re all really excited and look forward to raising a lot of money,” Randal Gonzalez, general manager of Super Food and Brew, said. The fundraiser will be the first ever for the restaurant.
Gonzalez was born and raised in South Florida, and graduated from the high school in 2010.
The restaurant is also accepting donations, and giving t-shirts to every donor who gives $15 and over.
