FDOT Officials To Answer First Coast Expressway Questions At Open House

Florida Department of Transportation

If you’ve got questions about a new toll road under construction on Jacksonville’s Westside, the Florida Department of Transportation is happy to answer them. It’s called the First Coast Expressway, and FDOT staff will be on hand at an informal public open house Wednesday afternoon with an update on the project.

“The First Coast Expressway is a toll road that’s going to create part of the outer beltway for Jacksonville and Clay County and it will go through Duval County, Clay County and eventually St. Johns County," said FDOT spokeswoman Laurie Sanderson. "Right now, though, we have parts under construction from I-10 to Blanding Boulevard."

Work on the 16-mile long section of the expressway is expected to wrap up in late 2016.

Sanderson said FDOT staffers can also answer questions about the SunPass electronic tolling system, although, she said, the toll amounts have yet to be set.

The open house is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Oakleaf Village Club Room in Orange Park.
