Jacksonville’s Grammy-winning R&B band Tedeschi Trucks, led by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, will be the opening act to debut Daily’s Place, the new 5,500 seat amphitheater at EverBank Field scheduled to open this summer.
“We don't think there could be a more appropriate opening act given the roots of southern rock here in this community,” Jaguars President Mark Lamping said.
Lamping gave an update on the new amphitheater and a closer look at the concert lineup Wednesday on First Coast Connect.
He said Daily’s Place is kicking off it’s inaugural season with Tedeschi Trucks performing Saturday, May 27. It’s grand opening will also feature acts by Train, O.A.R., Natasha Bedingfield, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds throughout summer.
Lamping said he has “been focused on creating new revenue strings,” needed to offset the impact of Jacksonville being one of the “smallest NFL markets” in the league.
His team formed Bold Events, a sister company that will manage the new facilities.
“We are trying to make Jaguar home weekends a much bigger deal than they are right now,” Lamping said. “Our goal is to have a very, very busy facility.”
Bold Events will plan events at the amphitheater, stadium and a new indoor “flex field” being built as the primarily indoor practice facility for the Jaguars.
“The night before every Jaguars home game there will be a concert at the amphitheater.”
Lamping said 500 of the 5,500 seats at the amphitheater will be made available for events. Jaguars season ticket holders and Daily reward members will have priority in buying tickets, while remaining tickets “are made available to the public on a first come first serve basis.”
