Free Health Screenings This Weekend Will Help Thousands of Uninsured in North Florida

Indo American Medical Association of NE Florida

For the thousands of uninsured residents here on the First Coast, preventative health care can be hard to come by.

The third annual free Indo-American Medical Association (IAMA) of Northeast Florida Health Screenings and Fair was designed to reach this population.  The event, coming up Saturday at the downtown Wyndham Hotel in Jacksonville, will provide free screenings on everything from high blood pressure, to diabetes, breast cancer, osteoperosis, and much more.

In addition, hourly lectures on various medical topics and living a healthy lifestyle will be given simultaneously by leading local specialists.

"This type of free access to preventative screenings and information is very important to provide," says participant Dr. Saumil Oza. "Last year more than 600 people attended, and we expect a big crowd this year as well."
